DAAN Sky Blue Ultralight BJJ Gi for Men — 300 GSM

No. Sky Blue is not one of the three colors the IBJJF permits for gis (white, royal blue and black). Wear it for training, open mats and local events that do not enforce federation colors, and check the rules of any tournament before you enter.

GSM is grams per square meter, the weight of the fabric. At 300 GSM the jacket is lighter than the 450–550 GSM weaves many brands use, so it breathes better and dries faster. Our heaviest competition build is 380 GSM, so the Ultralight sits at the light end of the DAAN range.

Size by height first, then weight. Most men between 5'8" and 5'11" wear an A2. Choose Husky if you are broad through the chest and shoulders, or Long if you are tall and lean. If you are between sizes, take the smaller one.

A lighter weave trades a little durability for breathability and speed. With cold washes and hang drying it holds up well for regular classes. If you train hard every day and want maximum toughness, a heavier pearl weave gi is the better daily driver, and the Ultralight makes an excellent second gi.

Cotton can shrink when exposed to heat. Wash cold, hang it to dry and never tumble dry, and the fit you buy is the fit you keep. Cotton also relaxes slightly with wear, so do not size up to leave room for shrinkage.

The pants are cotton ripstop at 260 GSM. Ripstop is a tight, reinforced weave that resists tearing and stays light, so the lower half of the gi moves freely and does not trap heat.

Yes. It is comfortable from the first class, and the lighter weight is easier to carry and dry. Beginners who train in warm rooms or travel to class often find it more pleasant than a heavy competition gi. Just remember that its color is not a federation color if you plan to enter IBJJF events.

No. Sky blue is much lighter than the royal blue the IBJJF permits. It is a training and local-event color, so choose a royal blue gi if you plan to compete in federation tournaments.
