DAAN Prime Black BJJ Gi — 350 GSM, IBJJF Legal
DAAN Prime Black BJJ Gi — 350 GSM, IBJJF Legal
This is the cheapest gi we make and the one we would recommend first. Compare it against every men's gi we make and the value is hard to argue with.
At $105 the Prime Black costs less than most brands charge for a beginner gi, and it is not a beginner gi. It is 350 GSM cotton pearl weave — the same fabric weight as gis selling for $160 elsewhere — with 280 GSM ripstop pants and triple-stitched stress points.
Black is one of the three colors the IBJJF permits, so this is a gi you can actually compete in. It is also the most forgiving color in the range. Mat burn, chalk, the grey smear you get from a poorly cleaned floor — none of it shows.
If you are buying your first gi and want to keep the cost down without ending up with something that falls apart in four months, start here. If you already train four times a week and need a second gi so you are not training in a damp one, this is the sensible way to get it.
The trade-off for the price is the finish. There is no embroidery, no sublimated panel, no contrast taping. It is a plain black gi that does its job.
Add a white belt or ranked belt and you have a complete setup for under $130.
